Health Tips For Seniors by Carla Hay Perdue

The Mineral Wells Senior Center is very fortunate to have Carla Hay Perdue on the Board of Directors, and also an active participant in Senior Center activities

Carla Hay-Perdue, DNP, APRN, NC-BC, earned her Bachelor of Science (BS) and Master of Science (MS) in Nursing from Texas Woman’s University. She also completed the Adult/Geriatric Nurse Practitioner and Family Nurse Practitioner programs at the University of Texas at Arlington.

Carla co-founded the Palo Pinto Rural Health Clinic in Gordon, Texas, where she worked as a Nurse Practitioner for 25 years. In 2015, she obtained her Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) degree from Texas Tech Health Sciences Center. During her DNP program, she discovered that health determinants consist of 70% lifestyle and environment, 20% genetics, and 10% healthcare. This realization led her to pursue nurse coaching to assist individuals in achieving their health goals. She became Board Certified in Nurse Coaching in 2014.

Carla has also completed the Functional Medicine for Nurses Course and the Functional Nutrition Counselor Certification Course. Additionally, she serves as an instructor in the Three Principles of Psychology for Resilience.

Currently, Carla works for Palo Pinto General Hospital as a Health and Wellness Educator and Nurse Coach. She also serves as adjunct faculty at Texas Wesleyan University, where she co-teaches the Nurse Coaching program for both the DNP and Family Nurse Practitioner programs through the Advancing Nurse Coaching certification program.

She will be sharing her expertise in a series of Health Tips for Seniors
